Gingerbread Men! (& Women!)

We decorated cookies last weekend....

Sean made a Darth Vader one too. (BOYS!) Unfortunately, he ate it before I could take a picture of it. Then, our lovely dog, Belle, ate the rest of the cookies Monday morning when I was taking the kids to school!!! We did have fun decorating them though....
 
 
 
 

 

Update

My mom came home from the hospital on Thanksgiving Day and is recuperating fairly well. She had her first xrays since the surgery last week and they showed nothing but good news!! The break is healing and now she can begin learning how to walk with 50% weight on her left hip. Simple right?!?! We are slowly returning to normalcy, though my Dad, as chief caretaker has the hardest job!

Sean's preschool class had the cutest Thanksgiving program. He actually sang this year!! I am including a picture from the feast portion because no blog post is complete without a picture...more to come, I promise.

Life can change in an instant...

My dear, sweet, mother, who does everything for us on a regular basis, fell early Sunday evening and broke her hip. She had surgery late Monday afternoon to repair it. The surgery went well and she was transferred to the rehab unit at the hospital, today. She will, hopefully, be there about a week and then come home. She is facing months of PT to get her independence and mobility back.

I will say this whole experience is scary as heck but we are hopeful with time she will return to "normal" :) She has been a trooper so far and I expect nothing different in the future. I will keep you posted but not sure how much blogging I will be doing in the immediate future. (not that I have been the best of bloggers lately.) My brother arrives for Thanksgiving tomorrow and will be here for a week. I am looking forward to having him here, as is my mom and dad. Please know your prayers are welcome and appreciated.

Halloween....

It was a beautiful Halloween weather wise this year. But, it was still bittersweet. Grace went trick or treating at her BFF's house and spent the night. We did not get to spend much of the holiday with her....Lot's of candy was obtained however and everyone was happy.

Sean was an army guy....selected mainly for the guns he normally doesn't get to have!

He loved the idea of the camouflage...he thought you couldn't see him.

Sean's Bowling Birthday

This year, for Sean's fifth birthday, we had his first "real" birthday party with friends. His choice was to go bowling! We invited 8 friends to join us, most of whom are in his preschool class. It was quite a good time. I am not sure there is anything cuter than these 4 and 5 year olds bowling!

Toe Socks....

Molly recently completed her first book report of the year on this book....

Toe socks figure prominently in the protagonist's friendship with her BFF. Molly liked this book so much she wanted a pair of toe socks....since I am always looking for ways to get Molly to love reading more, I obliged....

It turns out toe socks are relatively hard to find! I was lucky enough to find these at Target in their Halloween section.
